Christmas Traditions

Updated: Dec 16, 2019

We have a lot of fun Christmas traditions but I thought I would share a couple of the ones that we do to help bring Christ into our Christmas ❤️ We don't do all of these traditions every year because that's not realistic. I just try to be in tune with what fits my family best that year and what our family needs then.

25 Days of Christ

This is a tradition we have been doing since the kids were little. Each day we read a quote, scripture or watch a short video about Christ's life. We take turns and one of the kids places the corresponding ornament on the tree.

You can order them unfinished or painted. The kids love it and it's a daily reminder of why we celebrate Christmas.

The Giving Manger

This one gives the kids a reminder to serve others and not focus so much on what they are getting:) This is something we have done in the past but this beautiful set is brand new to us! It comes with a book that explains the tradition. As a gift to Jesus, we serve others and put a piece of straw in the manger each time we do.

Handbells

I LOVE my handbells! To me nothing brings the spirit of Christmas to my heart better than music. I use these for a couple different things. At church I do singing time with the 3-11 year old kids and I bring these for the kids to play. They LOVE it! It's easy to find any song you're looking for and making a color coded poster that you can hold up so the kids know when to ring their bell. We have done this with cousins for Christmas parties and even just our own little family on Christmas Eve. If your kids are super tiny, pair them up with an adult and they can participate too!

I got mine on amazon but I'm sure they're sold many places.

Light the World

"#LightTheWorld is an invitation to transform Christmas into a season of service. It’s a worldwide movement to touch hearts and change lives by doing the things Jesus did: feeding the hungry, comforting the lonely, visiting the sick and afflicted, and showing kindness to everyone. Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). #LightTheWorld is the perfect way to let our light—and His light—shine brightly."

Anyone can participate and it will surely make your Christmas season and unforgettable one.

Small Seed Study Journal

I just bought one of these last year. This is awesome if you're looking for some good personal study to deepen your testimony of the Savior during this wonderful time of year when we celebrate His birth.
